BNTM Inspired Purple Smokey Eye

Last year when I first purchased products from MUA I also bought this Britain's Next Top Model Palette as it was reduced from £12 to £7. I thought that was such a good price for so many shades (there is another section that pulls out under the one shown). I intended to get lots of use out of it but every time I've picked it up to use, I've never been grabbed by any of the shades. However I recently swatched a few shades when I was looking for a particular colour and that inspired me to use it a bit more.

I decided to use the purple shades in the palette to create a toned down version of the purple look on the front of the palette. I didn't want to go all the way round the eye with colour and I didn't want it to be as bright either as I tend to stick to neutrals and that purple is just too much for me! To tone it down and give it more of a smokey look I also used the grey shade in the palette.

I started by using the lightest shade all over my lid and right the way up to my brow bone. I then covered this with the top purple shade up to the crease. I then packed on the darkest purple shade all over the outer 2/3 of my lid and taking it through the crease slightly. I intensified this more in the outer third and added in a bit of the grey shadow to give it more of a smokey look. I finished off the look by lining the top lash line with liquid liner and extending slightly to create a small flick. I lined my top and bottom waterline with my favourite pencil eyeliner - Rimmel Scandaleyes Waterproof Kohl Kajal in Black and finished with mascara.

I was really pleased with how this look turned out. It's perfect for adding a pop of colour but not too over the top as I wanted something that was wearable during the day. I'm definitely getting more confident at working with colour and so I think I might start using this palette more now I've familiarised myself with it again!

What do you think of this look? Do you have this palette?
Have you got any suggestions for any looks I could create?
