Diorshow Maximiser - Lash Plumping Serum

I feel like I've rather overdone it this month with Dior posts, but when they have such amazing products (and I'm not just saying that because I work for them!) that need to be shared, what's a girl to do!?!

I have well and truly fallen for Dior's Lash Plumping Serum. I had never used a mascara primer before and never really thought much of them but now I've started I can't stand my lashes when I don't use this!

Can we all just take a minute to appreciate the sleek white packaging! The wand is a plastic one, which makes application so easy. I'm a big fan of plastic wands anyway but this is ideal for getting even those short, hard to reach lashes in the inner corner! It applies white so you do look a tad scary but this completely disappears as soon as you put mascara on! One thing I would advise is to apply mascara straight away as if you leave the primer to dry, mascara application can be slightly clumpier than if you apply when still slightly wet.

I've applied the primer to my right eye (pictured left) and not to my other eye for comparison. As you can see the lashes with the primer on look slightly longer and definitely pick up the mascara much better and give a fuller look.

What do you think of the effect Dior's Lash Maximiser gives? Have you tried it? Or are you keen to try it now?

Mini ASOS Haul

You may have noticed that my blog has been a bit quiet the last couple of days. I took a couple of days out from blogging, not for any reason in particular but I'm back in full swing now!

Having decided my summer wardrobe needed a bit of updating, I was having a mooch on ASOS and may have accidentally bought a few things. And yes, before you ask it was actually accidental! No being sarcastic this time! I had added what I wanted into my basket and was deciding whether to buy it or not. I clicked continue not realising my card details were saved and that was it, the clothes were ordered! Just as well I didn't have masses in my basket!

I thought I would share with you the few gorgeous pieces I bought...

I'm not a big fan of dresses so I tend to opt for playsuits in the summer if I want a one piece outfit. These two items are actually playsuits but I really like them because they're a bit different to the style of playsuits I already have. I absolutely love the vibrant prints of these and can't wait for the warmer weather!

Again in the summer, I'm much more of a shorts girl than a skirt girl. I love the look of skirts on others but never feel that they look quite right on me! I love these culotte shorts because they aren't obviously shorts. They are so comfy too and I know I'm definitely going to get a lot of wear out of them! I think I must like this print and nearly ordered the same style of shorts in the other playsuit print too!

Finally I ordered this bikini. I love a good flowery bikini and fell in love with this one! It fits perfectly, just a shame I don't have a holiday to go on (or a beach body) … yet!

So there you have the bits I ordered from ASOS. I'm very tempted to order some more of those shorts in different patterns and some plain ones too!

What do you think of the bits I picked up? Have you done any summer shopping yet?

April Birchbox

Welcome to my April Birchbox post! This months box was inspired by food so all samples had a food element to them. I think this is such a good theme for a box!

Yes To Cucumbers Facial Wipes

These look so refreshing I can't wait to try them! And they're the perfect size to take on holiday too! A full size pack would cost you £4.99.

The Balm Cosmetics How 'Bout Them Apples? Cheek & Lip Cream

I've heard of The Balm Cosmetics but I've never seen their lip and cheek cream. I think this little sample is so cute and the packaging won me over as soon as I opened the box! I received the shade Pie. It's a gorgeous shade that gives a lovely pop of colour. I will definitely be getting a lot of use out of this and I'm very tempted to buy the palette for £26!

Color Club Gala's Gems Nail Polish

I've never heard of Color Club before which I'm rather ashamed about given that I'm a nail varnish addict! This is such a lovely colour and is perfect for spring/summer!

Lord & Berry Couture Kohl Kajal Eye Pencil

I love a good kohl eye pencil so am looking forward to trying this one out. A full size one will cost you £10.

Campos De Ibiza Almendra Body Milk

I've never heard of this brand before but they claim this body milk absorbs quickly and if it really does then I'm sold! A full size body milk will cost you £16.55.

Propercorn Sweet Coconut & Vanilla

I've heard good things about Propercorn so am looking forward to trying this! Although I'm not convinced about the flavour, but hey I might be pleasantly surprised.

I think the theme of this month's box was really good and I'm definitely going to get good use out of all of these products. And maybe even buy a full size cheek and lip cream palette!

Do you subscribe to Birchbox? What did you get in your box? Or have you tried any of these products?

Review: Maybelline Lasting Drama Black Shock Gel Liner

Happy Easter! I hope you're all having a lovely Easter weekend and pigging out on far too much chocolate!
I came across these photos that I had taken a good 2-3 months ago when I first bought this product and thought it was about time I reviewed it!

I've always been a liquid eyeliner girl but when gel eyeliner became the thing to use a couple of years ago, I jumped on the bandwagon and bought the Maybelline Eye Studio Gel Eye Liner - you know the one that comes in the little round pot with a brush that was THE gel liner to have! I didn't get on with it to start with but once I was used to it, I loved it! So when I saw this gel pen I thought this would be ideal for creating a quick line/flick with the high impact of a gel liner. As you can see from the photo below, the nib is also slanted, perfect for creating a quick even line and flick and comes with a little red stopper.

In order to get the gel out, you twist the bottom of the pen. This is where I think the design is disappointing as its very hard to get the right amount of gel out! If you twist it too much then you don't get an even line as there is far too much product and it squeezes out the edge. However if you don't twist it enough, you have to keep stopping to twist it more and the line ends up looking messy and not very smooth.

I love the look this gel liner creates and the concept is great but in reality, it doesn't really work for me. I'm going to keep practicing with it and see if I can perfect the technique and for those of you who are already masters of eyeliner, this is definitely worth a try! My only work of warning is that this gel is quite hard to get off so if you make a mistake you're probably going to have to take it off and start again rather than just adjusting it slightly.

Personally I'm going to stick with my pot of gel or a liquid liner on a daily basis and practice a bit more with this one.

Have you tried this gel liner? What do you think of it?

Dior Self-Tanning Oil

Happy Easter weekend to all you lovely people! I was a right doughnut yesterday and completely forgot to press publish on my post so apologies for it being a day late!

I'm not a massive fan of fake tanning purely because I'm so pasty. It's hard to find a light shade that gives me a tan without looking orange. And I certainly wouldn't dare using any facial tanning products because there's no way you can easily cover up a streaky orange face! However whilst cleaning the skincare counter at work, I was having a look at all the tanning products we (Dior) do. I came across this face and body natural glow self tanning oil, which instead of being one colour e.g. light or medium, anyone can use it as it adjusts to the pH levels of your skin to create a natural tan.

I tried it on one arm to see what it was like. At first it didn't add much colour it just made my arm appear smoother and smell amazing. It's also very hard to tell in artificial light but over the next couple of hours I noticed it was slightly darker than my other arm. The next day I woke up and you could definitely see a difference but it was a lovely natural looking tan! Just very wonky as I only had one tanned arm and the rest of me was as pasty as usual!

I decided to buy it and give it a go all over as I was really impressed that it gave a nice subtle tan that wasn't orange or streaky. It was £29.50 which for a Dior product I don't think is too bad and well worth the money if it means I'm not going to go from Casper the ghost to an Oompa-Loompa look-alike! I've taken photos of it's development - but please excuse the pasty picture on the left (and my wonky knees)!

L-R: Before, 1 Hour After, The Next Morning

As you can see from the pictures I'm naturally very pale. I always find it hard to get a good natural tan on my legs as they never seem to want to tan and either stay white or burn! The middle photo is about an hour after so you can see that there is a difference in a short space of time and then the third picture shows the development the morning after (I applied it the night before). I absolutely love the colour it gives me and because it's so nice on my body, I've started using it on my face too.

I absolutely love this product and am so pleased to have finally found a tanning solution that is orange/streak free! Dior claim the tan should last about 4 days before topping up is needed however I've not topped mine up in about a week and it's about the same shade as it was an hour after applying. However if you wanted to build your tan up, you could apply more often than every 4 days. My only piece of advice would be to rub this in with your hands. I've tried it both with my hands and a tanning mitt but found the mitt soaked up more of the product and left it patchy where I had sprayed it on. When I used my hands I managed to create a perfect even coverage and the colour was much better. Just remember to wash your hands after as I completely forgot! Although they weren't horrific compared to some of the tanning sights I've seen!

Have you tried this tanning product? What do you think of it? Or what is your favourite tanning product?

Spring OOTD

Denim Jacket - Topshop
Top - New Look
Trousers - Uniqlo
Shoes - M & S
Necklace - Matalan
Rings - Pandora & Essentials (Turquoise one)
Lipstick - MAC's Impassioned

I bought these trousers last summer but haven't worn them much as they're quite bold for me. But this year I've decided I want to wear them a lot more as they're really comfy and a bit different. For my spring OOTD I decided to pair them with my pastel pink textured top and a pair of nude heels. I would only wear heels if I was going out on a spring evening for a meal or something and the rest of the time I would wear flats or sandals. If I wanted to smarten this outfit up then I would swap my denim jacket for my black blazer.

Some extras because Fred wanted in on the action! And how can you resist this cute face!

I really love this photo of Fred and I. I'm definitely going to print it out and frame it.

What do you think of my Spring OOTD?

Oh No, Not Another Tag!

I have to admit I do love a good tag post. I know people get fed up with them but I think as long as they are spaced out then it's a nice way to get to know more about the person behind the blog! I have to admit I'm not the most speedy at taking part in these and I'm pretty sure I've been tagged in a couple recently which I haven't done yet! This tag was created by Hayley from Tea Party Beauty and I was tagged by Jenn from Photo-Jenn-Ic

The Rules

You must include both Hayley & the person who tagged you in your post (and the rules).
Once you've answered all your questions you need to tag 5 people.
Also if you tweet Hayley
(@teapartybeauty) the link to your post, she will RT.
If you are tagged & don't do the post you will have bad luck for 68.5 years. FACT.

The Questions

You've made it BIG and bagged some VIP Fashion Week tickets. You lucky devil you. But in your rush to get there and get yourself noticed you forgot your VIP Passes. The guy on the door says he will cut you a deal, you can go in only if you sacrifice either your Front Row seat, backstage privileges or goody bag. What's it gonna be?
I would definitely give up my front row seats! Who doesn't love a goody bag and think of all the people you might meet backstage!

You're making a new Subscription box, what 4 items and which dreaded perfume sample would you include in it?
Ooh I do love a good Subscription box! I would include some anti-frizz hair serum, a summery lipstick, a primer, some eyeshadow to complement the lipstick and the perfume sample would have to be Marc Jacobs Daisy - Eau So Fresh. I've definitely gone for a summery feel to my box!

What's your biggest blogging bug bear? The one thing guaranteed to make your blood boil and have you screaming/eye rolling at your laptop?
I really hate it when people get arsey with others for posting their thoughts on a topic or a product. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion and if you don't agree that's fair enough just don't lay into them and slag them off on every platform possible!

No more joining in Twitter chats only slightly relevant to your blog. You can only join in one blogger chat a week for the rest of your blogging days, which one's it gonna be and why?
Hmm this is tough! It would either be the #bbloggers chat or #fblchat! I love the #bbloggers chat because who doesn't love talking all things beauty related but then I love a good #fblchat because the topics are so varied! But if I had to pick one I think #bbloggers might just win!

'Fess up, do you actually own any MAC? If so what don't you like about the product?
Errr YES! Of course I own MAC! The one negative about it is the price but most of their products are worth the money!

The blogging Gods ban arm swatching, which body part will you swatch on now?
Ooh what a good question! I would go for something wacky like feet or legs but I don't think that's very practical in winter! Not sure stripping off your shoes and socks to swatch products would be socially acceptable! So I think I would have to go with neck! It's a good compromise because it's always easy to access and it's close to your face so you get a good idea of colouring!

You can no longer have Yankee Candles and Perfume Bottles in the background of your shots, what other inanimate object will you choose?
I think I would go for flowers. Not necessarily a vase of flowers but something like a Hawaiian Lei/Garland - obviously in corresponding colours to what your taking photos of!

Your blogs Instagram - is it for cats or meal shots?
Well my Instagram is my personal one and my blog one! And probably neither although if I had to choose one it would be meals. There does tend to be quite a few foodie snaps but not necessarily meals. To be honest it's a pretty good mix of lots of different things!

I really enjoyed taking part in this tag. I now tag LeonaHannahBethJess & Siobhan.

Review: Nivea In-Shower Body Moisturiser

I hope you're all having a lovely weekend and for those of you who have to work, I feel your pain as I'm working all weekend too! If you're not working then enjoy your time off and have a peek at my latest posts!

I have no idea how I've never seen this before! I thought it was new but it appears that it's actually been around for quite a lot longer than I thought! I bought this about a month ago (see it in my Boots Haul) after a colleague at work had bought it to try. It's perfect for me because I'm one of those people that always forgets to moisturise and to be honest it's too much hassle most of the time! Plus I detest sticky moisturisers that take ages to soak in!

I've used this most times I've showered - again I sometimes even forget in the shower, but I've definitely noticed a difference to my skin. It feels so much softer than it was before and any patches of dry skin that I was occasionally getting have completely disappeared (apart from eczema related dryness). Although it hasn't cleared my eczema up at all, which I wouldn't expect it to, one big bonus is that it doesn't make my eczema worse like many moisturisers do.

When I started using it I was quite generous with how much I used and found that when out of the shower and dry, my skin did feel slightly clammy. I wouldn't say it was sticky because it wasn't at all but I could definitely tell I had moisturised. Over time I've used less as I decided I was using far too much to start with and the clammy feeling after showering has completely gone. So I would definitely recommend to use sparingly if you don't like feeling sticky/clammy!

All in all I absolutely love this product and I'm definitely going to be re-purchasing this for a long time! It's even more appealing as it only costs £2.37 for 250ml or £3.40 for 400ml! What a bargain! It also comes in 3 other types, a normal skin one, a pampering honey one and a nourishing cocoa one. I think I might have to go and have a smell of the others to see what they're like and maybe try them! The one I have which is for dry skin has a slight scent but it's fairly neutral and not at all overpowering!

Have you tried this product? What did you think of it? Or has this just solved all your moisturising problems?

Dior Addict Fluid Stick

Say hello to the Dior newbie! You're probably all thinking not another glossy stain as there are so many companies out there with these now - YSL being a big leader and L'Oreal having just released theirs too! The Dior Addict Fluid Stick is the latest product to launch and is currently only available in Debenhams. However if you don't live near a Debenhams, don't fret, the Fluid Stick will be available from all Dior counters on Wednesday 16th April! Only 5 days to wait!

I was lucky enough to receive one of the Fluid Sticks* when I had my Dior training about 2-3 weeks ago. The Fluid Stick comes in 16 beautiful shades and I can't wait to try them all! At training we were all given the shade 754 - Pandore. I absolutely love the packaging of the Fluid Stick because it fits in well with all the other Dior Addict products but has that lovely pop of colour at the end! And although it looks like a lipstick - it's not! This is actually part of their marketing campaign and on the sample they make the point by writing 'THIS IS NOT A LIPSTICK!'.

So, if it's not a lipstick then what is it? It's a high impact glossy lip colour with the intensity of a lipstick and the shine of a gloss. I've worm mine several times now and I really like it. It's not sticky like a gloss and the colour intensity is amazing! It also lasts really well and even once you've eaten a meal although the colour is not as intense, it leaves a lovely natural hint of colour on the lips.

Top-Bottom: 338 Mirage, 551 Aventure, 575 Wonderland & 754 Pandore.

As you can see from the swatches, the last 3 are very similar with Aventure being slightly more orangey, Wonderland slightly pinky and Pandore, red. I'm not a massive fan of Mirage as I think it looks a bit wishy washy on my lips but I think it would look lovely on someone with more of a tan! I can't wait to try out more of the shades when they come into store.

Alongside the Fluid Stick, Dior's new nail colours are being launched the same time (already available in Debenhams) and the colour selection is so much better than the current line. The formula has also changed so rather than normal nail varnish, the new colours will be of a gel formula so much more shiny and long-lasting!

Have you tried the new Fluid Stick or nail colours? What do you think of them? Or are you going to pick one up when they launch everywhere?

Cake Club #5

Warning: This post contains cake. I apologise in advance for making all your tummies rumble!
If you aren't aware of what cake club is then you can read my original post here.
You can also read about Cake Club #2Cake Club #3 and Cake Club #4.

The theme this time was fruit tray bake. So this could be anything from sponge with fruit in, brownies with fruit in or flapjack with fruit in, etc. I had already made a fruit tray bake for cake club last year before I started the Cake Club series so was tempted to make that again as it was really yummy. However I decided to go for something different. I made a raspberry cheesecake brownie tray bake … I hope you're ready for this!

How amazing does that look? I wasn't expecting it to turn out this good especially as I substituted normal flour for gluten free flour. It was so yummy and the majority agreed that it was the best!

Here are the other cakes - I managed to get a photo of all of them this time … result!

My mums - Gluten free Raspberry, Lime & White Chocolate Tray Bake - her presentation wasn't brilliant because the white chocolate wasn't runny enough so when she "drizzled" it, it didn't quite work!

Lemon Drizzle

Blueberry Crumble Cake

Upside Down Spiced Toffee Banana Cake

Rhubarb Crumble Cake

Strawberry & Chocolate Flapjack

Fruity Flapjack

Chocolate & Prune Ganache Cake With Oat Topping

Again it was a really successful Cake Club as none of the cakes were the same and they were all very tasty! The next theme is a 2 coloured cake, which I think is going to be a really fun theme! I can't wait to try out multicoloured sponge cake or something along those lines!

What did you think of my raspberry cheesecake brownie? Have you got any suggestions for what I could make next time?

Sparkles Lip Glitter

If you read my Ideal Home Show Haul post then you will have seen that I mentioned these lip glitters. Well I have finally tried them out and thought I would let you guys know what I think!

At the show Sparkles Lips were offering 1 colour for £10 (usually £15 each) or 3 for £25. As there were so many colours to choose from, I decided to go for 3 and get colours I would usually wear on my lips rather than blue or green. Although I was very tempted to buy some more funky colours for my makeup kit and photo shoots. As I bought 3 colours I received 3 retractable lip brushes, which I'm really impressed with.

The glitter is so easy to apply. You have to clean your lips of any lipstick, gloss or balm before applying the adhesive (white pot). I found it easier to apply the adhesive with a cotton bud rather than the brush in the pot as it really tickled my lips and went everywhere! Then dip your brush into the glitter and apply to the lips. You may have to do this a few times to cover your lips and fill in any gaps. Once applied, leave lips open for a couple of minutes to dry and then you're ready to go.

Here's my first attempt - it could be a lot neater but you get the idea!

I absolutely love the colours I chose and think they will definitely be getting a fair amount of use. The nice thing about the paler coral is that you could even get away with wearing it during the day because it's subtle.

My only reservation before I tried them was that I thought I would be put off by the texture but once it's dry you forget all about it. And it's great that they have such a good lasting power (up to 12 hours). Admittedly I haven't tested whether they last for 12 hours but once dry it doesn't budge so I can imagine it would last quite a while. A major bonus for me is that the glitter is so easy to get off and doesn't leave your lips irritated after. I used a face wipe and makeup remover (tested separately) and held against my lips for about 30 seconds before wiping it off and both easily removed it.

I would definitely recommend these to anyone looking for something different for a night out or as part of a makeup kit for making an impact. I can't wait to get using these and see what effect they give with a full face of striking makeup.

What do you think of these lip glitters? Have you tried them or anything similar?

Ideal Home Show Haul

I recently went to the Ideal Home Show and might have accidentally spent a bit too much money! It was a lovely day out and although I loved looking round all the homey bits, none of my purchases were really home/interior related! But I did pick up some pretty cool things that have to be shared with you.

I have wanted some hair extensions for quite a while now and having ordered some online that were a rubbish colour match I gave up and waited until the show as I knew there would be a hair stand. I intended to buy hair extensions but ended up buying the above hair piece and I'm so pleased with it. It's so quick and easy to put in and it blends with my hair perfectly! Full post to follow.

I saw these letters and fell in love with them (no pun intended!). I wasn't sure whether to buy an H for Hannah but as there were only £2 each I went for a word instead. I'm going to hang these on my wall.

This is an amazing invention. It's a bottle top that clips onto cans so once you've opened a can of something, you can put this on to keep it fizzy if you don't want to drink it all straight away. They were only £1.50 so I couldn't resist buying one for Ben.

My sister is expecting a little girl in May and when I saw these dungarees I had to buy them! The stand had lots of cute dresses and dungarees in floral patterns and all of the items are reversible. So she can wear flowery dungarees or pink and white starry dungarees. I always think it's nice to try and buy something that others won't and these are perfect!

As many of you know I suffer from eczema and battle to find a cream that doesn't make my hands worse. I saw this stand advertising this cream for eczema sufferers and knew I had to try it. I was amazed that it didn't hurt my hands and after a couple of hours my hands were still so soft and my eczema wasn't itchy at all. I decided to buy a tub for home and a tube for my bag.

These looked amazing! An easy way to curl your hair with no heat. All you do is use the blue wand to pull hair through the curled mesh and leave it in for half an hour. I'm yet to try these but will be doing a full post on them once I have.

I have been after a portable phone charger for a while now and just haven't found the time to order myself one. So when we were at the show I had a look and came across these ones. The came in every colour imaginable and will charge your battery from 0% to 100% twice before you have to recharge it. It is also interchangeable so you can charge different makes of phones too.

Just when I thought I had finished abusing my bank account, we came across this lip glitter stand. As I'm hoping to do a makeup course I thought these would be so useful and perfect for a striking look in a photo shoot. Instead of going for the cheaper option and buying 1, I fell for their deal for 3. I chose a red, a hot pink and a light coral. Again, I'm going to do a full post on these.

So there you have all my Ideal Home Show purchases. It was an amazing day out and I'm definitely going to go back again and see what other goodies I can find next year!

What do you think of the items I bought? Did you go to the Ideal Home Show this year?
