NOTD - CND Shellac Decadence

Recently, I went and had Shellac done for the first time. You can see my post about it here. I absolutely loved the finish but was slightly disappointed that it came off after only a week! So I went somewhere else to see if they were better. I chose to have Decadence put on. It actually looks darker in real life and slightly more burgundy - more like the bottle shade I guess!

I was really pleased with the colour and the new nail bar I went to, however the same thing happened again and they came off in less than a week! I went back and complained this time and so they did them again for me for free! If the same thing happens again I think I'm going to accept that it's not for me or maybe try gels instead!

Do you get shellac? Have you had any problems with it lasting? Or do you prefer gel?

  1. I've never tried Shellac, but it doesn't sound like it worked very well for you - such a shame and disappointment, but fingers crossed they last a bit longer this last time around :o) Xx

    1. I'm pleased I tried it because I guess you never know until you try these things but I definitely think I'm going to try gels so I can compare them! X

  2. I actually didn't even know what shellac was until a few weeks ago haha. I LOVE the glossiness and shine though, your nails look so good! I probably wouldn't get them done unless they actually lasted though. They do look incredible but not worth the money if they chip so soon.

    1. Mmm the gloss and shine is a definite bonus! It might just be my nails as I have quite flaky nails due to my eczema but it would be nice if it lasted longer! X

  3. I used to have gel nails which the same thing happened to. The corner lifted really badly after a week. The nail tech I went to said it was probably down to products I was using on my face and body, or because of hand cream which would get between the gel and nail and cause it to lift. I'm testing out a new product at the moment which is available in Germany at the minute. I've had this one since Wednesday and already the colour has completely peeled off one nail! I give up. I think I'll stick to nail polish and my trusty Seche Vite top coat.

    1. Ah I'm pleased to know I'm not the only one! I've had this lot on for a week now and so far (touch wood) it hasn't chipped. But I think I might try gels next time to see if there is a noticeable difference and if there isn't then I definitely think I'll just stick to painting my own nails! X
