December at Hanclarky

Well December has well and truly been a fun filled, jam packed month of blogging thanks to Blogmas! I really enjoyed taking part in Blogmas and although I was unsure as to how well I would be able to keep up, I'm really pleased I did! I also loved taking part in some blogger secret santas so have thoroughly enjoyed my first Christmas blogging.

What did you think of December at Hanclarky? Which was your favourite post?

What I Received For Christmas

I hope you've all had an amazing Christmas and and received lots of goodies! I was going to post this yesterday but ended up having a fairly impromptu second Christmas seeing my brother, sister-in-law and my 2 adorable nephews! Before I get started I just want to say like many other bloggers and youtubers, that I am in no way bragging about what I received and that I am truly grateful for everything. I personally love reading these posts to be a tad nosy but also to see what people have asked for and to get ideas for products to buy/ask for.

So here goes...

My main present this year was the Estée Lauder Make Up Artist Professional Colour Collection. I blogged about this gift set in November and was lucky enough to receive it. It cost £250 but if bought with any other Estée Lauder product it was only £50! Such a bargain! I also wanted the EL Modern Muse perfume so used this as my other product. Here's a sneak peek inside - full post with swatches & product details to come ...

One of the other things I had mentioned that I would quite like to try was the Konad Stamping Nail Art. I've seen several bloggers using the Konad sets and can't wait to try it. I received Set B and 3 extra plates.

I received a fair few books this year. I had asked for 'The Complete Make-up Artist' book and it turned out this was already on my mum's list of potential presents for me! I'm so pleased with it and can't wait to get stuck in and read it/try some of the tips/looks out! I also received the '1001 Little Beauty Miracles' book which has lots of beauty hints and tips throughout. I'm a massive fan of baking too so no Christmas would be complete without another cake book! Finally, I received a book on Mindfulness, which is one of the mechanisms used to help reduce anxiety.

More baking items. I laughed when I opened this 'Make & Bake with Peppa Pig' set. I was like why on earth would my mum buy this. I then realised that it was because it included a gingerbread house mould. If you've read my blog recently you'll know that I really want to try and make one so I have no excuses now! I also received this dual colour piping bag, which I'm so excited to try. Cue plenty of food colouring!

Can I just say how cute is this little furry pup? He is one of those wheat bags that you warm up in the microwave, which I can't live without in these cold winter months! He is so soft and I've snuggled with him every night since Christmas! I also received this super fluffy jumper from New Look but completely forgot to include it in the main pic as I was wearing it at the time!

Finally, there's no escaping the maps. Having done a Geography degree the Geography geek in me loves maps. I have a teeny tiny obsession with anything map related. In fact maybe I'll do a blog post on all my map related items! I received the 2013 Vintage Map calendar so was definitely hoping for the 2014 one. My only problem now is I have nowhere to hang it so I think I'll have to flutter my eyelashes at Daddy Clark to pop a nail in my wall! The other map pressie is a map of England made up of words that relate to that area of the country. Again no clue where this is going to go!

Finally, a pic of what I received in my stocking from Father Christmas.

Diary, Notepad, 1001 Little Health Miracles, Miranda Hart's Is It Just Me?, Face Wipes, Chocolate, Nail Art, Deodorant, Candle, Emma Bridgewater List Pad, Angel Quote, Moisturiser, Elephant Tea Bag Holder, Vibrating Back Massager, Cupcake Tin, Pjs, Nail Varnish, Chocolate Nail Varnish, Moisturising Gel Socks, Cotton Pads, Satsuma (standard!), More Chocolate, Brussel Sprout Chocolate Balls, Hot Chocolate Flask, 2 x Original Source Shower Gel, Cupcake Plunger, Scarf Holder, Emma Bridgewater Tin, Socks, More Socks, Tree Decoration, Christmas Cupcakes & Cookies Book, Doodle Book to Zentangle and Zentangle Squares & Pens.

I can't wait for my days off so I can get reading and baking! I also can't wait to use all my new EL make-up and create lots of new looks.

Did you receive any of the same things as me? What did you get for Christmas? Let me know in the comments or leave me a link so I can have a nosy!

Ciate Mini Mani Month Advent Calendar

Apologies for this post being a little later in the day than usual, but I wanted to blog about this today and couldn't earlier because I ordered it to store so had to go and pick it up once it arrived! This year I bought the Boots Beauty Advent Calendar and blogged about all the goodies inside yesterday as an Overview. I'd seen many other bloggers blogging about other advent calendars they had and I loved looking at all the pics, especially those of the Ciate one. So when I saw it in the sale on the John Lewis website for £21 I knew I had to buy it! I can't believe I got £119 worth of nail polish for £21!! That's about 87p/88p per bottle! Bargain!

I apologise about the poor lighting in these photos but I didn't want to wait until tomorrow to post about this!

I did think about saving this to open everyday in January but I just couldn't wait so I opened them all today. I definitely felt a bit naughty opening them all at once!

L-R (also in order of days): Snow Globe, Boudoir, Hopscotch, Miss Mistletoe (Sequins), Encore!,
Sugar Plum, Fit For A Queen, Kiss Chase, Pillow Fight, Speed Coat,
Jingle Belle (Glitter), Pepperminty, Ferris Wheel, Party Shoes,
Play Date, Members Only, Frost Yourself (Caviar Pearls), Amazing Gracie, Underwear,
Ivory Queen, Confetti, Christmas Tree (Caviar Pearls), Locket & Serendipity.

I love the range of colours included in the calendar and think it's so cute that you get a message on each door too!

Boots Beauty Advent Calendar Overview

First up I hope you all had an amazing Christmas and received some lovely pressies and ate far too much! I certainly know I did!

This year I decided I wanted to try a beauty related advent calendar. I went for the Boots one as it was fairly reasonably priced at £30 compared to some of the other ones out there!

During December I posted a photo of what I received every day on Instagram so if you want to know what order I received things in, head over there. But below are some pics of everything I received over the 24 days. I'm really pleased that I bought this calendar as I've only used a couple of the products within it and found some great new products.

Mavala London Mini Nail Polish  Rimmel Stay Matte Foundation  Nina Ricci L’Eau Parfum  Vichy Idealia Life Serum  BXS L’Exces for Her Parfum  Umberto Gianni Pom Pom Pony Band  Seventeen Miami Supreme Shine Nail Polish  Orly Bonder Base Coat  Ghost Moonlight Fragrance  Boots Salon Shine Solution  Soap & Glory Mini Girls Clean Body Wash  Couture La La Juicy EDP Spray  Seventeen Tattoo Me Liquid Eyeliner  Boots Emery Board  Soap & Glory Mini Flakeaway Body Scrub  Vichy Liftactiv Eyes and Lashes  Carmex Lip Balm Pot Original  Mavala Diamond Nail Polish  Botanics Hair Serum  Umberto Gianni Mini Backcomb in a Bottle  Seventeen Blowout Mascara – Blackest Black  Ghost The Fragrance  Nails Inc. Porchester Square Nail Polish  Balmi Cube – Blistered Lip Balm – Strawberry

My favourites so far are the Balmi Cube Lip Balm in Mint (even though the packaging said I should receive Strawberry!) and the Seventeen Tattoo Me Liquid Eyeliner. I haven't used most of the items yet but I'm sure some will be posted about once I've tried them out.

I've decided to store all my goodies on my Zentangle Plate as they've been slowly collecting on my bedside table and keep falling off! I can't wait to try some of the other products and think I will enjoy using the majority.

Did you have a beauty advent calendar this year? Which one did you have? Did you like it and think it was worth the money?

Blogmas Day 24 - My Christmas Look

Merry Christmas Eve! I can't believe it is the last day of Blogmas today and that I managed to blog everyday! I've really enjoyed blogging everyday although I'm also looking forward to getting back to blogging every other day with the occasional extra post! Although Blogmas is officially over, I'm going to try and blog everyday for the rest of December.

But for today, I thought I would show you my chosen Christmas look for this year. As some of you may know it was my birthday on 13th December and I received both the Real Techniques Core Collection and Starter Set. I've used RT brushes for about the last year now but finally got my mitts on these! I also received Benefit's World Famous Neutrals Kit in Easiest Nudes Ever so decided to use this to create my look.

I think this box is so cute and really handy to take on holiday as you can create so many looks with just these few shades. I also really like that you get two cream shadows and that all the shades are a mix of shimmery and matte. Now for a closer look at the shades…

L-R: R.S.V.P., No Pressure!, Call My Buff, Pinky Swear, Thanks A Latte & Quick Look Busy

I think these shades are beautiful and love that you get a mix of finishes. Now for the look I created…

Please excuse my natural hair!

I used R.S.V.P all over my lid before blending Thanks A Latte into my crease and sweeping Call My Buff over my brow bone. This was the daytime look recommended in the leaflet attached inside the box, however I then added a touch of Quick Look Busy to the outer V. I've worn this look for the last couple of days and I am really impressed with the lasting power of these eyeshadows. The past 2 days I've had my makeup on for over 12 hours and my eyeshadow hasn't creased at all!

Other products I used to create this look include:
Garnier Moisture Match for Normal to Dry Skin
Nivea Daily Essentials Hydration Primer for Normal/Combination Skin
MAC Mineralize Moisture SPF 15 Foundation in NW20
Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer in Light (2)
Sleek Blush in Antique
Body Shop Shimmer Waves in Blush (light waves to highlight)
Max Factor Clump Defy Mascara in Black/Brown
Rimmel Scandaleyes Waterproof Kohl Kajal Eyeliner in Black
MAC Eye Brows in Lingering
MAC Mineralize Skinfinish Natural in Medium
Rimmel Moisture Renew Lipstick in Glam Plum Fulham

It's only now that I write out the products that it seems like quite a lot but it didn't take me very long to create the look as the majority of it was my day to day makeup just with different eyeshadow and lipstick!

What do you think of this look? Do you use any of these products? Have you decided what look you're going for on Christmas day?

Blogmas Day 22 - Christmas Cupcakes

Welcome to Blogmas Day 22! I can't believe it's only 3 days until Christmas! I've finally finished wrapping all my presents and am really looking forward to seeing people open them!

Anyway, today I thought I would share with you some amazing cupcake and biscuit designs I have found on Pinterest over the last couple of months. I really wanted to make some funky cupcakes for Christmas this year but I'm working the next 2 days so don't think I'm going to have any time! I'll just have to drool over these instead …

I think all these designs are so cute, but my favourites have to be the snowman cupcakes and biscuits! The Christmas trees with strawberries inside are a great idea too, I would never have thought of doing anything like that!

This post is making my tummy rumble as I write, definitely need to go and raid the cupboards now!

What do you think of these cupcake designs? Have you made any Christmas themed cupcakes or food? If so, leave me a link below or tweet me a picture, I love seeing people's creations!

Blogmas Day 21 - Christmas Candles

Welcome to Blogmas Day 21! I thought I'd share a few of my Christmas candles with you - some are Christmassy scents and other are more all year round scents that I love at the moment.

My first favourite is this Redcurrant & Cranberry Stoneglow candle. It's quite a sweet scent but I absolutely love it and it's perfect for this time of year. I'm not really into most Christmas scents as I don't like the smell of cinnamon and the majority smell like cinnamon to me!

Secondly is this Mandarin Cranberry Yankee Candle. I received this for my birthday from one of my closest and oldest friends and it smells so yummy! I'd never seen this Christmassy scent in the Yankee range so was pleased to finally find a Christmassy Yankee candle that I like!

Finally, earlier in the week I popped into the Yankee candle shop in town and picked up these 4 scrummy scents. The first one is Midnight Jasmine but my mum got a bit excited and took it out the packaging before I had a chance to take some pics! Although only one is Christmas related (Cranberry Ice) I love all the other smells at this time of year if I don't want to burn a Christmas scent. I have this purple Merry Christmas tea light holder which is the perfect size for these Yankee candles. I also have my name on a tea light holder. This one isn't so good for these Yankee candles as there are a bit too tall but you get the idea!

As you can see I have quite a thing for cranberry scented candles - I hadn't realised until I wrote this post that they all had cranberry in … oops!

Finally a little sneak peek at where my candles live plus a couple of others not mentioned above as they're more spring/summery scents.

What do you think of these candles? Do you have any of them? Or what are your favourite Winter/Christmas candles?

Blogmas Day 20 - Secret Santa Goodies

Ahhh 5 more sleeps until Christmas! As this is my first Christmas that I have been blogging I thought I would get involved in some online festivities. I joined up to take part in Hannah Bee's secret santa and then shortly after was asked by Jess @ Dungarees & Donuts to take part in hers as somebody had dropped out.

For Hannah's secret santa I was put in the category for £20.00 and this secret santa had a rule that you weren't allowed to buy anything beauty related. I received these lovely goodies from Sophia @ Tattooed Tealady and they arrived the day before my birthday so my mum kept them for me to open on my birthday! It was like birthday and Christmas rolled into one!

Sophia's goodies were so cute as a couple of them had little notes attached to them explaining why she had picked these things! I think she's put so much thought into choosing these things as I absolutely love them all! The Christmas bunting is handmade by Sohpia and it is amazing, so perfectly made! The book is by her favourite author which I thought was a lovely touch and I can't wait to read it! Finally, the blue bauble took a while to figure out how to open but inside were these cute tea related candles with a little note saying you can use the teapots the same as the other candle. So sorry Sophia if they're not candles as I've assumed!

My second secret santa price limit group was £10.00. My secret santa kept herself secret as although she signed the card with her name, she blogs anonymously so this was no clue! However she wrote her address on the packaging and as we were paired I then knew it was from Life With Munchers! I apologise to Mummy Muncher if you are reading this and haven't yet opened your pressie from me!

Again Mummy Muncher has obviously done her homework and knows that I am a mahoosive fan of nail varnish! However I surprisingly don't own any Essie polishes, even though I have just about every colour on my wish list! She bought me these two lovely grey shades - Chinchilly and Smokin' Hot. I love both of them and think they are definitely going to become two favourites of mine!

A big thank you to both my secret santas for the lovely goodies you picked out for me! I'm definitely going to get involved with this again next year!

Have you taken part in a blogger secret santa? What did you receive? Or have you taken part in a secret santa with friends/family?

Blogmas Day 19 - #BritishBloggerSelection - Winter Loves

Welcome to Day 19 of Blogmas and another #BritishBloggerSelection post! This week's theme is Winter Loves. This was an easy one for me as there are plenty of wintery things that I have that I love. However I could have gone crazy on this post but managed to stop myself!

Stoneglow Redcurrant & Cranberry Candle
I have this exact candle but in a glass bowl rather than a tumbler shape. It smells amazing but I'm putting off burning it too much as I don't want it to end!

MAC Lipstick in Plum Dandy
This is my all time favourite lipstick at the moment. Although I do have a lot of other favourite winter lipsticks too (post coming soon!).

Hot Boots Microwavable Slippers
I love normal slipper boots but my friend bought me some of these for my birthday last week and I love them. I always have cold feet even when I don't think they feel cold they are like ice blocks so these are perfect to keep my toes toasty.

The Body Shop Vitamin E Sink In Moisture Mask
This is definitely my favourite face mask that I've tried. It's perfect for this time of year when you want to keep on top of dry skin. I use this once a week and more if I feel I need it.

Winter Pimms
I absolutely love winter Pimms. I first had it about 3 years ago now and it's become our family winter drink over xmas! It's amazing warm mixed with apple juice! Definitely going to crack this out over the next few days!

Barry M Gelly Paint in Plum
I mentioned a while back that I was sure this was going to be one of my favourite nail paints of winter and I was right! See NOTD post hereHowever there are many other nail varnishes I am loving at the moment but I think it would take a while for me to list them all! Maybe I'll do a winter favourites post on this too!

New Look Fluffy Jumper
I'm not normally a jumper person but this winter I have been drawn to jumpers so much more! I was in New Look the other day and saw this fluffy jumper and knew I had to have it. My mum ended up buying it for me for Christmas so I've got to wait a few days before I can wear it!

MAC Eyeshadow in Cranberry
Yep, you guessed it MAC's Cranberry had to be in there somewhere. This eyeshadow has probably been the most popular shade of this autumn and winter with most beauty bloggers owning this shade or something similar! It's perfect for a pop of colour without being too bright and goes really well with the lipstick I mentioned above.

Fur Headband
I bought a fur headband last year before going to New York. It was definitely a good choice because it kept my ears so warm! I've dug it out again this year along with my bobble hat but think it's really nice to wear if you want something a bit smarter!

So there are a few of my winter loves for you. Of course Christmas is a major winter love for me too, but I figured that was kind of obvious!

What are your winter loves? Are any of them the same as mine?
