Pottery Painting

Last week my friend Charlie & I went pottery painting. We've been friends since we started school aged 4 and have always loved doing crafty things together. Over the years we've made and sold things such as friendship bracelets and handmade cards. But recently we got talking about pottery painting cafes as when we were younger these were a popular choice for birthday parties. And so we decided to relive our younger years and go again!

So I thought I would share with you what I decided to paint. I chose to paint a square plate with rounded corners - I had been strictly instructed by my mum that I was not to paint a mug as we have far too many already! It took me ages to decide what to do on my plate but in the end I decided to go for a Zentangle pattern. If you don't know what Zentangle is, I wrote a post about it a couple of months ago - see post HERE

And here it is...

Before the plate had been glazed

My finished plate!

I'm so pleased with how it turned out. I was worried it wouldn't be solid black as you are meant to apply 3 coats of paint but I only had time to do 2! I definitely can't wait to go again sometime soon!

Have you ever been to a pottery painting cafe? Have you got any ideas on what I could paint next?
